UKHI, a material science startup pioneering sustainable packaging solutions, made an announcement of a partnership with DCGpac, a leading B2B packaging distribution platform. The partnership will enable access to EcoGran UKHI’s compostable biopolymer granules across Indian online markets.
UKHI is backed by institutions like IIT, ISB, 100 unicorns, and venture catalysts, which makes them India’s revolutionary move. The EcoGran is playing a crucial role in eliminating the use of plastic and reducing carbon emissions. The startups also aim to reduce the packaging cost and increase their social responsibility in the packaging industry.
The partnership is considered to be a crucial factor in the packaging industry, as India has banned the use of single-use plastic, which restricts the use of cutlery, plates, straws, wrappers, and other products.
“This alliance with DCGpac represents a transformative moment for India’s circular economy,” said Vishal Vivek, Co-Founder & CEO of UKHI. “Together, we’re not just distributing a product we’re enabling a movement. EcoGran™ allows businesses to reduce their plastic footprint, meet ESG goals, and achieve cost savings simultaneously.”
EcoGran is a more sustainable and cost-effective option as compared to paper-based packaging, which is now highly adopted by other companies. It is expected to reduce the packaging costs by around 15%- 25%.
The collaboration will attract the focus on UKHI’s new manufacturing facility, where DCGpac will focus on marketing, e-commerce, fulfilling order requirements, and last-mile delivery.
CEO of DCGpac, Suresh Bansal, said that they are thrilled to partner with UKHI, which will help in improving sustainable packaging in the Indian market. He also mentioned that
“This collaboration strengthens our mission to advance circular packaging solutions that are affordable, high-performing, and planet-friendly.”
The partnership is expected to benefit the D2C brands operating through e-commerce platforms to offer reliable and eco-friendly packaging materials. The majority of the demand is expected to be attracted from FMCG and retail companies that demand lightweight and affordable packaging.
